My son recently graduated and I thought it to be a very good oppurtunity to tell him some things I had in my heart. The morning before his Graduation Celebration I sat at my computer and began to write. I am sure I could have said much more, but more than anything, I just wanted him to hear from me, that I am more proud of him for his faith than any other accomplishment he will ever have. The following is the letter that I read to him:
To My Son
When you were born and I heard your first cry and held you for the first time, I knew that my life would never be the same. As you have grown, the only thing that has constantly ran through my mind was, ‘Lord, let him be a good man’. I know that we have been through ups and downs and you have not always received your every desire, but I hope and pray that you have learned that sometimes the thing that think you need isn’t always what is best for you, and that God ultimately has a plan for you beyond your imagination. We all know that no-one is without fault, but I have been continuously PROUD of you, for through all the heartache and triumph, mistakes and victory’s, one thing that was never shaken, was your faith in Our God. From today, You now have the decisions to make that will set you to become who God has created you to be, and all I want is for you to listen to His voice, and follow. For the Lord says in #Jeremiah29:11-12, “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you – Oracle of the LORD- plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. When you call me, and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. Remember we are one Body in Christ ( #1Corinthians10-16-17), and our call to “Go therefore, and make disciples of all Nations…” #Matthew28:19-20. I have no doubt that you will continue to grow in your faith and come to understand that all you do, is by the Grace given to you by God. Use your gifts to help others and never forget how much we love you, and more importantly how much God Loves You!!! Open your heart all the way and HIS love will fill it to overflowing and then give that Love to others.
Love Mom
“This is my commandment: Love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what i command you.” #JOHN15:12-14
